Workshop Flow
1) Begin with sound meditation
Gently center yourself in your chair.
Close your eyes and let the sound bowls calm your mind and body.
This is a quiet entry into the space before the brush.
2) Pick up the brush
Hold the brush in your hand for the first time, or reacquaint yourself with it.
Practice basic strokes together with the teacher.
When you feel ready, choose one kanji character that calls to you.
3) Write from the heart
Write your chosen character slowly and with care.
There is no right or wrong; the brush follows your breath.
The teacher will be close by to guide your hand and support you.
4) Rest with your artwork
After writing, lie down on the floor and listen once more to the sound bowls.
Place your character where you can gently see it, or simply hold its feeling in your mind.
Let the sound and your artwork hold you, and return to yourself.
